You're right, they are SO cute. We saw a three month old Bernese mountain dog at the dog beach last week and she was SOOOO adorable and just a totally cute little fluff ball.
Coming from someone who has a giant dog with a short lifespan, just make sure you know what you're getting into!
Bernese Mountain dogs are BIG - bigger dogs cost lots. EVERYthing for dogs is by weight - they eat more food, their monthly heartworm pills are more expensive, getting them neutered/spayed is more expensive, etc.
Also - they have really short life spans.. something like 6-8 years. They are prone to certain cancers and lots of hip problems.
All that being said, they are AWESOME dogs.
I totally didn't mean to turn this into a Debbie Downer comment, just want to make sure you know what you're getting into!
Oh, Katherine! My sorority little's family has two Bernese Mountain dogs! They are HUGE & SOO cute! The girl puppy's name is Mona, which I think is hilarious and adorable! :) We went back and forth between so many breeds before we picked Malone. For us, a cocker spaniel just fit our house and smaller yard for now! One day though, I think we'll add to the little puppy family!!
oh my gracious i need one of those. did i say need? well....want.
thanks for the comment! the color on the walls is BM hollingsworth green. light mint green. so pretty! (the swatch, though, looks very muted and almost putty-ish)
I am DYING for a chocolate lab. I am in limbo back at home so I can't have one right now - boo!
ReplyDeleteOMG! That dog is adorable! We used to have an Australian Shepherd and she looked similar when she was a puppy. Awwww....
ReplyDeleteSo precious!! I'm dying for a jack russell terrier but don't have the time, space or money for one right now :(
