do any of you ladies suffer from anxiety? mine has been
crazy lately. it's killing me! i already take zoloft for it, but i guess it's not working anymore. plus, i think it may be the reason i have issues concentrating. any suggestions? i've already asked my twitter friends, but thought i'd ask the crowd :)
Oh sweet pea.
ReplyDeleteHi, my name is anne and i suffer from anxiety too.
:( i hate the days it consumes me... i've found my best defense is to slow down, relax, breath and think positively.
sometimes i find myself making a bigger deal out of things, or worrying about things i cannot change.
scriptures and prayer also help me.
sending you big {hugs} for a peaceful ♥
shoot me an email :-) I'm very similar!

I am right there with you lady! I have been struggling with it for the last 10yrs & it's always such a roller coaster. Since i took myself off the medicine 8 years ago, i find the best ways to try and get it under control are 1) exercise 2) yoga OR 3)a relaxing beach vacay. BUT if you can't get to the beach then i suggest a good yoga.
ReplyDeleteOtherwise my mom also has found a pill that really helps her....i can't remember the name off hand but i want to say it starts with an "L". Let me know if you want me to find out. :o)
I am sorry for you because I know exactly how you feel. It sucks. The more stressed I am the more my anxiety pops up which just stresses me out more!! Ugly cycle. I have been reading everything I can on what to do for this. And have yet to find anything that helps...
ReplyDeletei feel like this is a support group of sorts...i suffer from anxiety too. i am also on zoloft but have found during really intense, stressful times it doesn't feel like it does much for me either.
ReplyDeletei have breathing exercises that i do, cardio, extra sleep, etc. i've also eliminated a bunch of stuff from my diet and that seems to help also. feel free to email me if you want and i can explain more!
Yes-I've had HORRIBLE anxiety my whole life and panic attacks! Zoloft never did any good for me...I recently got on Prestiq and it's working pretty good. But I am breastfeeding and can't take my xanax...anxiety is horrible! wahh...anyways...you can always try something else if you feel like what you are on isn't working for you.
ReplyDeleteI have had bad anxiety for some years. I used to wake up freaking out about everything i had to do that day and cry that there was no way i could do it all. I take citalopram, which is the generic of celexa--similar to lexipro. It has made a WORLD of a difference. Instead of worrying about "what if" and freaking out over every detail of life I can see the big picture and can control my emotions more. It's fantastic.
ReplyDeleteI got bad anxiety last semester about a month before finals (the hazards of law school). I just take a beta blocker now whenever i begin to feel anxious and it really helps calm my heart rate and keeps my mind from racing.
ReplyDeleteI think it is a step down from Zoloft, but it worked well for me! hope everything is going well and feel free to email/call any time if you want to talk!
I've had anxiety off and on for years. Yoga, slow breathing, and exercise such as walking/biking can help. Also I eliminated all caffeine and chocolate. It also helped to have family or friends who understood or tried to. They just let me vent, or would talk to me when I felt anxious. Sometimes just expressing how you feel and knowing someone is there for you helps a lot. If you ever need someone to chat or vent to feel free to write me!
ReplyDeleteWell, it seems like a lot of people can relate to you - and I am simply another.
ReplyDeleteMy anxiety was/is badbadbad. The source of my anxiety was centered around health issues and constantly thinking the worst in situations. It was so bad that I was making myself sick, tired, and all over horrible.
I am on Lexapro, and take Xanax when I'm having an "episode" but what has worked for me is The Secret. Have you read it? I would love to chat with you about it. It seriously changed my world! It's all about the power of positive thinking and has offered me a lot of guidance.
As you know, everything will be just fine. Hang in there!
:)
I have horrible anxiety too, right. I mean AWFUL!! I hate it. It controls me..it consumes me and I can't make it stop! I'm on Effexor for it, and Xanax for a "fire extinguisher" pill..but we are going to try for kiddos soon and I truly would like to try and get off all of my meds (since i can't take Xanax while pregnant or BF) but I just don't know if I'm ready. I worry allll the time. About.Every.Single.Thing.
ReplyDeleteYES. Mine has been bad lately too. I need to get it under control before the bar.
ReplyDeleteI already take Effexor for depression but upping the dosage of it has helped the anxiety a little bit. I'm gonna get to the doctor and possibly add another prescription for this summer.
I think every modern woman suffers from some anxiety--balancing relationships with her business life, while still being sucessful. Could the anxiety be because you're a law student and having a lot of work lately?
ReplyDeleteI started a blog that I think you might like too. It combines fashion and giving back to charities. Each week, I will give away 1 Lilly Pulitzer dress (this week it’s the Pink Adelson Shift from Spring 2010) to one lucky follower, who raises awareness of the blog's selected charity through various ways such as tweeting about it or commenting with an interesting fact. I am currently also giving away some great Lilly stationary items too. Please check out my blog at www.shop4charity.blogspot.com because doing good is chic!
I have anxiety too. It got so bad about two years ago; I constantly woke up in the middle of the night, had panic attacks, constantly felt sick, lost 30 lbs (the only up-side!!) and I have no idea what sparked it. I've been taking Lexapro for almost two years it has been a LIFESAVER! All of my anxiety symptoms are gone although it took about 3 months after starting Lexapro. Please feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions, etc. I am totally open and willing to help. I know how horrible anxiety can be. I feel for you and hope you find something that works for you!
ReplyDeleteXOXO
oops, here's my e-mail: lynnmg87@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteYup, definitely hear you girl. I am in the process of getting off Effexor for anxiety. I'm finding that, sadly, I don't feel much different without it than I did with it (omg was I forking over all those copays for NOTHING?!?). I think the main thing is exercise and talking to someone about life's little stresses as they happen... instead of waiting until it all builds up. Keep calm and carry on :-)
ReplyDeleteI hate to hear this for you (I don't know you but it just sucks) :( I suffer from mild anxiety too, with a combo of depression. It runs in my family, unfortunately. I'm able to control it with Zoloft and Welbutrin XL. The combo of the two works well for me. I took Zoloft alone for awhile, but adding the other really helped. It definitely (DEFINITELY) impacts my concentration. I hope you're able to find something that helps you.
ReplyDeleteYup. Sure do. I was on meds before I got pregnant, then stopped to have the baby, and never got back on again. I can feel it creeping back up on me. I'm sorry you're having to deal with it too.
ReplyDeleteHiii, I just stumbled on your blog. I have terrible anxiety, being a college student doesn't work either!
ReplyDeleteWOW! Thank you for this post... it was so nice to know that I'm not alone. I also suffer from anxiety and currently take Zoloft. I feel as if it helps a great deal--even if I can't always tell it does--because I tried to go off of it (because I was gaining a lot of weight!) and it immediately got more severe. I also take Xanax occasionally for those times when I need an extra umph! Hang in there girl! And breathe, breathe, breathe it through.
