Let's talk registries

So, I'm finally getting around to starting some registries, but I'm wondering what is appropriate. I'm definitely registering at Pottery Barn and a local specialty store, L.V. Harkness. I'm wondering if it is tacky to register at 4 stores?! There a just a few things I'd like to register for at both Macy's and William-Sonoma...or I could probably get away with just doing one of them. What do you all think? How many places did you register at? Is it ok so long as I don't have repeat things on different registries?!

The two things I really want to register for at William-Sonoma...the rest I could find at Macy's.

  1. Omg I loved registering! We registered at 4 places, Tiffany's , Pottery Barn, Crate and Barrel & Williams Sonoma and people are so generous with wedding gifts I say go for it! Love that bucket

  2. I registered at Pottery Barn, Williams Sonoma and Bed Bath & Beyond and I think it was fine. Although, I must say, we got FAR more money than presents anyway, so we were able to just buy what we wanted the most off of each registry.

  3. I know it's norm to register at 3 places, and 4 is only more than 3, so I say GO for it!! ;)
As a guest at weddings, I always say 'the more options the better!'
    Have a great weekend!

  4. We, too, registered at 4 places. I was hoping that people didn't think it was too many places, but the entire philosophy behind registering is that people can buy you what you really want or need! Why feel confined to 3 places if there is a 4th very small registry with a few items that make your heart go pitter patter? :) Go for it!

  5. LOVE that bucket! I say go for it! I don't think anybody will have a problem with it, like everybody else said, the more options the better! :-)

  6. We are registered at Tiffany's, Belk, Williams-Sonoma, and a place exactly like LV Harkness but is here in Richmond called Hampton House. So we registered at 4! Definitely not tacky as people like lots of options! Do not forget to look up registry threshholds and engagement/registry parties like I was telling you about as they are great!

  7. Just FYI - if you register at Pottery Barn and get gift cards or some gifts you take back, you can use your credit at Williams-Sonoma!

  8. I only did 2 places... I think 4 might be a little much for guests but its your call

  9. Go for four! I've known people who have registered at 2 to 4 places. Also have you heard of myregistry.com? It allows to put items from several stores onto one online registry and people can just buy from your registry on that website.

  11. Love all these comments as this is the conversation I've been having nonstop about registering. We registered at Williams-Sonoma at the very beginning of our engagement and I am now torn between what else to add. I don't think four is too much, but if there are only two items at WS, you could also plan to buy those with wedding money and/or PB gift cards. ;)
