Keeneland Fall Meet

I've started searching for a couple of dresses to wear to the fall meet at Keeneland. I found a few that I like and wanted to get ya'lls opinion. What do you think of these:

Milly #1 from here.

Milly #2 from here.

Lilly skirt and maybe the Lilly green top. Or I would do a white top with a cardigan. Or a long sleeve thin sweater with a pretty necklace.

what do you all think? its so hard to plan for Oct. in KY it could be 75 degrees or it could be like 55 degrees, you never know!

* and special thanks to BLC for giving me a heads up that Blair on Gossip Girl wore the same dress to their polo match that I wore to Derby! :)

wedding hair

hey ladies! do any of you Lexington gals have any good suggestions on salons for bridal hair styles? i'm trying to find a good place for my friend (the bride) to have her hair done. i will probably get mine done there as well. if you do have suggestions let me know!

looking for a pretty new nail polish color? i got a mani last week and chose OPI Rose Petals and i love it! i've never been big on painted nails but this color is so pretty and understated!
(it looks a little more purple in this picture than it truly is)

monogram pilllow

i made this pillow this weekend for a family friend who just started her freshman year of college and moved into her dorm. i also made a valance for her dorm window, i'll share pictures once its installed. didn't the pillow turn out pretty cute?! it took quite a while bc it was my first time sewing on trim and making an envelope back...but it all came together!

to make the button monogram i bought a bag of white buttons at Michael's. (I also bought a bag of 1,000 vintage mother of pearl like buttons on ebay for future projects) i printed out a letter "S" from word and then cut it out and traced it with a pencil onto the blue fabric. obviously, do all this before you put the pillow together. lay the buttons out on the cut out letter to get the placement right. i figured out that the best way to get the buttons on the fabric is to glue them on with elmer's washable glue then let the glue get tacky (not dry, bc its too hard to get the needle through it) and then sew them on. next, pop the fabric in the washer on gentle. this removes any pencil line that may be showing and also the glue. dry on low and iron. it takes a while but turns out cute!
