guess what i just did?!
Ben and I just got back from trying on and looking at engagement rings. Haha he thought I was being too picky! I explained that I would be wearing this ring for the rest of my life and that I needed to be certain. No, we didn't get one! It will still probably be a while but its fun to look!
These are similar to the styles I like....

ummmm that test sucked. i mean seriously!! i'm hoping for a c-. hardest test i have ever taken. ugh. oh well, its over now!!
in other news, i'm going to talk to a mortgage company tomorrow about possibly buying a condo. i don't have a job, BUT, there is a condo i want in the best part of town that is up for foreclosure and i i could get such a great deal and take advantage of the 8K from the gov. for first time home buyers...basically it would be less than what i pay in rent. we shall see. have any of you purchased a foreclosure home?

ALMOST DONE!
I've been pretending to study all day. Haven't accomplished much. Too bad my final tomorrow is in a class that is 4 credit hours. Its too bad that I'm so burnt out on school because I really do like Estates and Trusts.
Oh well. I've decided that being happy and sane is more important than my gpa anyways. The exam is at one tomorrow and then I'm D.O.N.E. with my second year of law school. Yay!!
Off to pretend to study some more....

Thank you BLC at The Company She Keeps for the Fancy Pants blog award!! Her blog is a must read, so be sure to head over there!
The Rules: (Sad that this makes me think about the rule against perpetuities)
- Post the award,
- mention the award-giver
- tag and distribute to all the people you want (don't forget to tell 'em).
- Lastly, answer this: Why do you love blogging?
Well, I love blogging because it gives me a creative outlet - law school doesn't really require any creativity. I also love reading other people's blogs, they always serve as wonderful inspiration.

Definitely jinxed myself for posting about my comp battery... I was 2.5 hours into my 3.5 hour evidence exam when my computer completely died and LOST my ENTIRE exam. So, i had to start all over...
Today could not have been worse (ok, it could get worse, but i'm going to bed so that hopefully it won't). After the test mess I got home to two letters from a bill collector for two PARKING tickets I got last month that I thought Ben had paid and I guess he thought I had paid them - so basically they didn't get paid. So, now for $30 worth of parking tickets I have to pay $100 and I have bill collectors knocking at my door. Nice.
So, I got in bed and had a good frustrated cry, caught up on my blogs, watched the new Grey's and had a diet coke, everything was better and right with the world again. OH NO, not too fast! Then I get a call from my little sister telling me that my mom fell and busted her head open and she was taking her to the ER for stitches. Seriously? Plus, I can't even go home to take care of her bc I have another freaking final tomorrow.
Here's to hoping your all's days were better and that my tomorrow is!!
kids playhouse & macs
How adorable are these card table play houses for kids?! I'm definitely making one (one of these days) for logan! They are felt and so long as you are capable of tracing some shapes I think it would be a pretty simple (if not intricate) project! I bet you could even make it a no-sew project - or at least get away without sewing the decorations onto the box like by using that iron-on transfer stuff. What do you sewers think? Would that work?
Logan is really into playing pirates right now, we call it "arrrrging," so a pirate ship would be really fun to do! Plus, it stores easily by just folding up the card table! Love it!
from this etsy shop!
Also, for those of you who have macs - have you had to buy a new battery? I've had my MacBook Pro for like two years and the battery is COMPLETELY SHOT. Like, it won't stay on for ten minutes without being plugged in. SO annoying! I really just don't want to invest the more than $100 for a new battery. Ugh.
I know, I know...I should be studying. Ok, back to it. Bye~

A post dedicated to my Ben.
Ben and I have been together for FOUR years today! Happy anniversary my Woobie! I LOVE YOU! We had a great dinner last night at Merrick Inn and just slept in this morning and have been being lazy together on this rainy day.
Ben also had a triathalon on Saturday morning, which I didn't get to go to because I was feeling really sick, but he got 1st in his age group!! CONGRATS Woobie, all your training is paying off - I'll be at the next one!
edit: i've been informed that it is triathlon, not triathAlon - my apologies

Barbie goes to Derby!! I love it and kind of want it (although i would have nothing to do with it!)
a healthy choice
I've been trying to eat a bit more healthy, but I get tired of eating bland, boring foods. I just tried a Healthy Choice Panini for the first time and it was so good! - and only 310 calories! yum!

Pictures I promised...
As I wrote Sunday, the engagement brunch went really well! The weather turned out to be gorgeous, a little chilly at first but I ended up getting a sun burn (even after putting on spf 70 that morning)! I was really please with how the decorations turned out, as well as all the food. We had about 25 people there and I hear everyone had a great time! The "congratulations" banner I ordered from etsy. I made the small bunting by just stringing some paper circles together - I ordered the paper die cuts from esty too!
How cute did these turn out?! I loved them! I actually just bought mini cupcakes from walmart and used the cake toppers I ordered off etsy. So cute! Plus, the backs matched the banner!
My little cousin also came out to the tailgate!
mimosas and such
The favors. these koozies ended up being a pain in the rear, the stamp I ordered never came in so I was running around friday trying to figure out what to do with them. I just drew a circle and used a hole punch to make the dotted border then got some alphabet stamps and did them one by one. It took forever and some of them didn't turn out so hot! Oh well, everyone thought they were cute and they were impressed :) How cute did these turn out?! I loved them! The bride-to-be with her special "Bride" koozie.
My Benjamin and me.
So overall it was a great weekend. Easter Sunday was spent at my aunt's house. My nephew Logan had his first Easter egg hunt. He loved it and got lost of goodies in his Easter basket. I hope all of your weekends went just as well! And just FYI, posting might be kind of sparse for the next couple of weeks because I have finals coming up and I'm trying to get my butt in gear!

DIY project
I've been trying to DIY some monogrammed glasses for my sister's friend's wedding shower this weekend, but its a bit harder than I expected! I can't seem to cut out the letters to look good... back to Michael's tomorrow for plan B. I'll do a post once I'm successful!
Edit --
Ok, so the glasses turned out OK. But really in my opinion they were just OK, and not all that great. I think if I had gotten the stencil I wanted to make to turn out that would have made them better. I ended up buying letter stickers and then just masking off a square around them so that the "etched" part of the glass was the square with clear letters. Sorry but I didn't get any good pictures, but I plan on trying this again sometime soon! I'm thinking the dome of a cake stand...

CREEPY!!
Ok, so Ben and I are watching this show Toddlers & Tiaras on TLC...its like a train wreck, you can't look away!
This crap is seriously CREEPY! These poor little girls are going to grow up with some serious issues. On tonight's episode there is this sweet little red-headed 4 year old girl whose mom takes her to get SPRAY TANNED and makes her wear FAKE teeth! OMG! She is FOUR! She is like "when I get spray tanned my skin is brown and pretty" - um...someone needs to let her know that she is pretty how she is!
Well, maybe it all worked bc she just won a thousand dollars!
Have you all seen this show? Are you as freaked out as me?

Weekend in Review
My weekend flew by! I was super busy with school stuff. Saturday was the law school's community service day and I went with the Student Animal Legal Defense Fund to a local no-kill shelter and spent a few hours volunteering. It wasn't glamorous work - we basically scrubbed walls and emptied litter boxes - but we got to play with lots of dogs and cats!
Sunday was SALDF's Puppy Palooza, a fundraising event. We had expected rainy weather but lucked out that it was a gorgeous day! We had a great turn out and raised a lot of money for both the Animal Care Society (the no-kill shelter from Sat.) and Ally Cat Advocates!

Optimism
I saw this on another blog and loved it so I wanted to share...
The Optimist Creed
by Christian Larson
Promise Yourself
To be so strong that nothing
can disturb your peace of mind.
To talk health, happiness, and
prosperity to every person you meet.
To make all your friends feel that
there is something worthwhile in them.
To look at the sunny side of everything
and make your optimism come true.
To think only of the best, to work only
for the best and to expect only the best.
To be just as enthusiastic about the success
of others as you are about your own.
To forget the mistakes of the past and press
on to the greater achievements of the future.
To wear a cheerful expression at all times and
give a smile to every living creature you meet.
To give so much time to improving yourself
that you have no time to criticize others.
To be too large for worry, too
noble for anger, too strong for fear and
too happy to permit the presence of trouble.
To think well of yourself and to proclaim this fact
to the world, not in loud word, but in great deeds.
To live in the faith that the whole world is on your
side, so long as you are true to the best that is in you.
sewing machines
I've been wanting to purchase a sewing machine for a long time now, but I haven't invested in one yet. I don't need anything fancy, just something pretty basic, user friendly and moderately priced. I have never used a sewing machine and this Brother 25-Stitch Sewing Machine for $67.99 at Target seems like it might be a good buy. Do any of you use this machine? If not, do you have any suggestions?

go figure
forecast for this Saturday....
and next Saturday {the day of my brunch}....
Go figure! In retrospect I should have planned it for this weekend because next weekend is Easter weekend and I also have a take home exam to do. Ugh! Here's to hoping the forecast improves!

Another cute giveaway!
One of my fave bloggers is giving away a super cute monogrammed basket over at her blog Dave and Brit Plus One. If you don't already read her blog then you should start! I went to undergrad with Brittney, and while I'm not sure if we ever actually met, I remember her going through rush because I thought she was so cute! Brittney is one of those people who is just a good person. Her blog is very positive and inspiring. Plus, her sweet baby girl, Kennedy, will be here in just a few weeks!
Ok, so one day I AM going to win one of these giveaways! :) at least I hope!
