furniture and paint colors

i've started looking for things for the condo ... (hope I don't jinx it!) ... we need a new couch and chairs. why are couches so dang expensive?? i really love this one from pottery barn...

but its like $1,500. i think not. so, i'm on the search for a sofa i love that i can afford!

but i think i'm liking this duvet and bed linens from p.b. i think i want to do some neutral colors in the bedroom. maybe a beige/grey in the living room, soft blue in the kitchen and eating area and then a creamy color in the bedroom. idk. maybe i should do the blue in the bedroom and keep the main living areas neutral? the place is small. i'm talking about 700 square feet, so i don't want there to be too many colors on the walls.

do you all have any suggestions on where to buy a reasonably priced couch?

Have you ever seen the Crate & Barrel sale catalog? They usually have some really great stuff on the cheap!

Big lots. Ha...seriously. I know it sounds funny, but they really have some nice furniture in there (sometimes) and you can get it for what I think it a pretty fair price. like 400 dollars for a set. We got ours from lazy boy. My grandma bought it for us for our wedding. It was about 800. Im not sure what your price range is...but potter barn is expensive....but they do have lovely things! ohhh...and if you have an IKEA check out that place...that is probably where I would actually go!

I agree with lil woman. Not sure how close you are to one but ikea has great alternatives for pretty cheap. They used to be a little bit cheaper but now that are trendy haha.

Check out JCPenney.com for the couches. My parents got a microfiber sectional sofa that had a fold out bed for like $899. I loved it. It wasn't super nice, but it didn't cost $1500 either.

Our house is about 1000 sq. feet. We went with golden yellow, sage green, greyish blue, bright orange, and pale yellow. Tons of color (I hate white walls!), but they're all muted colors (with the exception of our Clemson orange room). They're not screaming at you and most of the rooms are completely closed off from the next, so they don't blend together.

Good luck!

I have that duvet cover! I'm completely obsessed with it and I've had it for 3 years. You should definitely buy it. I've had it with pale purple and a sort of 'new leaf' green walls and I think I may settle with taupe next time I paint/move.
