hair woes

Saw this picture of Resse over at Day Old News and I REALLY wish my hair could look like this...but it is super straight and doesn't hold curl. I have a lot of hair, but it is very fine. What products do you all use to thicken your hair? I part my hair far to the right, and when I try to wear it down it seems like the left side is just lifeless and flat...any tips? I almost wish I were blonde just so I could use dry shampoo to give me some texture and because my hair is so fine it starts to look oily only a few hours after washing - especially my bangs that lay on my face. :(

Tips? Suggestions?

goodsearch.com

Have you all heard of GoodSearch?  It's basically a search engine that is run by Yahoo and every time you use it they donate money to a chartiy of your choosing. I don't know about you all, but I use google everyday, lots of times a day. You can also shop via their site, & I know we all do a ton of online shopping....I'm going to start using GoodSearch, it's an easy way to help out a little!

Here is what the website says about it:

"Here's a new easy way to raise money for your favorite cause. Just start using Yahoo! powered GoodSearch.com as your search engine and they'll donate about a penny to your favorite cause every time you do a search!

In addition, do all of your shopping through their online shopping mall, GoodShop.com, where you can shop at more than 900 top online retailers and a percentage of your purchases will go to the charity or school of your choice. You pay the same price as you normally would, but a donation goes to your cause!

Here's the web site — http://www.goodsearch.com. You can also read about GoodSearch in the NY Times, Oprah Magazine, CNN, ABC News and the Wall Street Journal."

bachelorette survival kits

I helped a friend make these "bachelorette survival kits" for a friend's bachelorette party she was hosting this weekend. We used cheapy ziploc bags, scrapbook paper, and printed the labels I made on heavy paper. Attach the label with double-sided tape to the scrapbook paper, fold in half & staple over the top of the baggy. They turned out super cute!

you can add whatever you want, obviously, but we added:

  • band-aids
  • energy drink mixes
  • mints
  • gum
  • face wash pads (the kind you add water to)
  • M&M's
  • advil (probably most needed)

If you would like a pdf of the label just shoot me an email -

blogger/twitter date

I've recently talked to some of the local blogger & twitter ladies and we all decided it was time for another date! Who is in?!

What works best for everyone? I'm thinking soon... Maybe a Saturday brunch at Ramsey's or a Thursday night for wine at Harry's? Ideas?! Email me or comment here.

OR (and I think this is a GREAT idea) we could meet on a Tuesday at Wines on Vine for:

MARTINI AND MANICURE TUESDAYS

Ladies, join us every Tuesday for great Martinis, great nails and a great time! $10 gets you a Manicure and a Martini. Our partner nail salon swings on by to pamper you with a much deserved manicure starting at 5:30pm  -  until we’re finished.

Keep in mind that we could always do more than one date, so if everyone can't make it - No worries!

touristy pics

& then Chels got her palm read...

I've been in a technology slump lately...bc last week I accidentally threw my phone in the pool and then later that night Ben dropped and busted my MacBook. & yea, if you are keeping count....that's the SECOND MacBook he has broken of mine :(  Needless to say, I've realized how boring my life is without Twitter.

in other crafty news...

A friend of mine whose cousin recently went through rush and moved into her first college apartment wanted to give her a little something for her new diggs. So we made this:

The colors match her new room and she pledged Delta Delta Delta. Easy and cute!

I found these metal letters in the $1 section at Michael's. They were black so I painted them white and added clear glitter. To attach the ribbon to the tack board just use hot glue and thumb tacks. Obviously, don't hot glue the entire ribbon down to the board or you won't be able to stick pictures etc. behind the ribbons.

I know as soon as I pledged Kappa Alpha Theta I wanted everything with 'Theta' on it! So hopefully Miss. Olivia liked the gift from her cousin :)

Happy September

Well, summer is officially coming to an end. The pool will be closing soon and I will have absolutely nothing to do with my days...it's sad around here ya'll!! ha! I need to get a job, any job.

Anyways....who is excited for football season!? ME! Actually, not really the game of football but rather, tailgating! Nothing quite like a crisp fall afternoon spent with friends & family outside Commonwealth Stadium followed by a looong night at Two Keys.

In anticipation of the upcoming tailgating football season & in true Just Lovely fashion, I whipped up this snazzy wreath for my friends Brittany and Pat. No worries, I made sure they also had a UK wreath (displayed on the FRONT door).

Just need some ribbon, wooden letters, glitter & paint from the craft store. Make bow, add paint and glitter and you're done!
