Wedding Week - Our Rehearsal Invitations

It's rehearsal day!! I can't believe tomorrow is almost here! Hopefully as you are reading this, I'm relaxing after a successful Bridesmaids' Luncheon! Here are the invitations we sent out for our rehearsal dinner tonight. I wanted to use the crest we had made and gingham...I think they turned out lovely!
Hopefully I get some beauty sleep tonight! Feel free to leave me some advice for tomorrow!!!

WWW - Invitations are en route!

I dropped the finished invitations off at the post office today. I slipped the postal worker a Sbux gift card to hand cancel them all. Here's to hoping they make it to their destinations in one piece!

It took me hours to assemble them. The whole ribbon tying bit was a doozy. Some people's ribbons have a much nicer knot than others, but I had just about had it and just wanted them out of my hands.

I let Ben make the final decision on which ribbon to use. He chose the dotted one, which was really my first choice anyways...I thought it was whimsical and still classic and pretty! I bought Michael's out of that one, so when I ran out of it I used the thin one at the bottom on a few.

I'll share the complete set with you all next week, after everyone has received them! They were definitely a labor of love and I"m thrilled with the end result!

WWW - I'm the bachelorette!

Shew! Finally Wednesday! I've been running around like a crazy person trying to get ready for this trip. And I was so excited to wake up to a freaking blizzard this morning. Not. BUT, I'm ready and we are heading to the beach today! I've been looking forward to my bachelorette ladies weekend on the coast for months. So excited it is finally here! Looks like it won't be super warm there, but hey, it's supposed to be sunny and we are staying on the ocean...I'll take that over snow any day!

ANNNNND I get to pick up my wedding dress tomorrow!!! EEEKKK! As ya'll know, it was custom so I've only ever seen the designer's sketch. This will be my first time seeing the real deal. Fingers crossed it's everything I'd hoped it would be! Oh and PS, I ordered my shoes and the invitations this week! I'm relieved to have those marked off the list.

I'll be gone on here until next week, but feel free to follow me on Instagram and Twitter...I'm at jl_katherine on both...to follow along with the trip etc.

{Drunk gummy bears I made for the weekend. Actually pretty tasty.}

See ya next week, ladies!

WWW - on Thursday

{can't help but love these gorgeous vows prints.
Maybe to put in a double frame with a wedding photo?}

Been a busy week here in wedding world! I neglected to post yesterday because I was supposed to go to the florist to finalize flower arrangements, but she ended up canceling and I never got around to the blog. Tomorrow makes 3 months to the wedding. What the heck?! Where did that time go?! I'd say these last 3 months will fly by!

I leave Wednesday for my bachelorette trip to Charleston. Thursday I pick up my wedding dress! I'm SO excited to see how it turned out. I've only seen the designer's sketch, so I'm praying it ended up coming together just perfectly! As for the groom, last week Ben I went to Midway to have him fitted for his tux. He decided to purchase one rather than rent.

Here is my updated to do list. I plan to order my veil, shoes and garter next week. I think that will complete my wedding day attire. Next week I also plan to get the invitations ordered and the transportation booked. I'll think we will be in good shape at that point! {NOTE: Yes, this list is overwhelming and a lot of it is not actually necessary. WWW - Rehearsal dinner details

As you all know, we are having a laid back BBQ for our rehearsal dinner. For dessert, we are serving pies from the yummiest local pie shop, Missy's (Ben's fave!). Because it is a BBQ, I ordered these sweet little vintage bride and groom pig salt and pepper shakers to put on the pies as a "cake topper."

 To serve the pie and ice cream, I want to order these kraft food boats with  blue gingham basket liners. We decided to go with a blue theme rather than red.

Going for something like this:

I think it's the little details like this that really make a party unique and memorable!

WWW - Bourbon Bar Roundup

My groom loves his bourbon, so we are having a bourbon bar at the wedding reception. We aren't having a full open bar to go along with it, just beer, wine, champagne, and his signature dink - an old fashioned. Lots of bourbon! My signature drink is champagne. Nuff' said.

My plan is to set up a guy's area over off the bar somewhere. I want to get two bourbon barrels and either just use their tops for display or get round glass table tops for them. One for the bourbon and one for cigars and the accessories (napkins, bourbon balls, ice, matches, drink stirs).  Oh, and I think I'm going to get a custom watercolor done with all the bourbon choices....not sure yet.

WWW - Honeymoon BOOKED!

It's official and all booked! The new Mr. & Mrs. Wade will be heading to Mexico's Riviera Maya! Five nights at the Aventura Spa Palace, and I couldn't be more excited!!

Check this place out! Ahhhhh-mazing!!

The resort is all-inclusive, so we won't have to worry about anything once we arrive. And we got the Concierge Level so we would have a private lounge area at the beach with waiter service. There are liquor dispenser in the rooms, 24-hour room service, nightly petit fours with turndown service, a candlelight dinner, a couple's massage by the ocean and SO many more amenities!!

I'm already dreaming of  afternoons at the spa, cocktails by the pool, and breakfast in bed with my new husband!

I don't know what I'm more excited for! The wedding or the honeymoon!

Wedding Planners

I debated hiring a wedding planner for a long time. Obviously, I love planning and I am also a wee bit of a control freak. But when it came down to the actual wedding day, I did not want to stressed over the table settings or making sure everyone is where they need to be at the correct times and those kind of details. I hired a wedding planner/sorority sister of mine to be our day-of coordinator. Just knowing she will be there the day of the wedding (and leading up to the wedding somewhat), makes me feel so much better! I know I will be able to relax and really enjoy the day an all my hard work.

With that said, if you are like me and want to do the majority of the planning on your own, I think it is important that you go into it with lots of resources. We will have been engaged for 17 months when our wedding rolls around, so I've had tons of planning time. I cannot imagine doing it in less than 12 months time. I've had lots of time to stew and really think about what I want and bring it to life (well, hopefully anyways!).

Everyone on Instagram was talking about Maybooks so I went over to their website to check them out, and lo and behold they have a wedding journal! From what I can tell it has planning tools built in. For $20, I think it would make an adorable gift for the just engaged bride-to-be or something for yourself to jazz up your planning! They are adorable!

{my fave design}

Of course, if you want to make an extensive planner you can use my previously posted notebook how-to. The nice folks over at Samsill sent me a couple of their binders to review and I used one to make a friend her own wedding planning notebook upon her engagement. They seemed to be sturdy and a good deal! Hint hint...you could create a design like the one above, print it out and use it in one of Samsill's binders that have the clear front pocket?! Just an idea!

WWW - Our Save The Dates - revealed!

I can finally share with you all our Save The Dates! I ordered them from Minted.com months ago, and have been waiting until after the holidays to send them out. After several hours of assembling and addressing, they are all out in the mail, so now it is safe to post! I ended up having Minted do a custom order for me. There was a holiday card that I wanted to use as the template because it allowed me to do the photo grid on the background as well as add rounded coroners (shapes weren't yet available on the wedding products).

Customer service was so helpful and got me all set up! I basically just contacted them, told them I wanted to use the "Be Joyful" photo card (because I liked the old-time photo feel that the white border added) and wanted to use it as a save the date. They added the order to my cart and from there I could customize it how I wanted. They also removed the logo from the back, because you don't want a logo on your STDs.

{website has been removed because it contains personal info}

I absolutely LOVE how they turned out!! Any of Minted's designs are customizable, don't hesitate to ask if they can do something and don't feel like you have to use a design within a certain category. I will note that I uploaded the front picture with the font already on there. I downloaded a font from the internet and added it to the picture in photoshop. But, Minted has 100s of fonts to choose from, so this really wasn't necessary.

In order to add a bit of our main wedding color (pale blue) to the Save the Dates, I decided to add the "modern swag" slip-in envelope liner to the envelopes. These are DIY, and kind of time consuming, but I love the end result. It definitely adds a little something extra to the overall feel.

Rather than having the return address printed on the back, I ordered this embossing stamp from Neiman Marcus. I figured I could use it on the wedding invitations as well. I chose to leave the name off and only include the 2 lines of the address (I read somewhere this was proper?!). For $24, I'm really happy with that purchase...plus it will get use all the time, not just wedding related things.

And finally, I am no calligrapher, but I addressed the envelopes by hand. This took a very long time. They didn't turn out perfect, and some were better than others. I free handed them, but used a scripty font as inspiration. I downloaded "Pea NJH Script" (love all their hand writing fonts!) and copied all the names from our invitation list to a word doc in that font and used it as a guide. I'd suggest writing it in pencil or thin black ink and then going over that with a sharpie marker to give you a more defined line.

That's it! I sent them off into the world...they are either in the hands of their recipients or on their way there. Mark that off the list!

WWW - Bridesmaid Attire

I'm headed to Charleston this weekend to get measured for my dress at Modern Trousseau! They measure me for it now and it will be made and ready by March. I have finally decided on all the details of the dress (how low for the back, sleeves, neckline, etc) and am ready to get it into production!

So with my dress and accessories covered, I have waited until the last possible minute to make a decision on bridesmaids' attire. I have chosen to go with Lula Kate's Sophie dress, so long as it is as pretty in person. I'm checking it out this weekend while in Chuck as well. I'm not sure about the exact fabric yet, it is hard to tell from little swatches. So hopefully I can choose one for certain while I'm at Lula Kate this weekend.

Getting things checked off! Feels good! Much to do still...mostly details, which are the fun part! According to my monthly timeline/checklist, by the end of the 6 month mark I still need to: 1. Reserve a hotel room for wedding night (kind of done) 2. Book day or transportation for the bride, groom and bridal party (MUST DO!), 3. and update passports if necessary...guess we would need to pick a destination first, I don't think Ben has a passport.

At 5 months to go (Jan 1) I need to: 1. Select bridesmaids attire (will be complete by next week) 2. Provide bridal shower guest list to maid-of-honor (done) 3. Update registry lists for bridal showers (done) 4. Research honeymoon destinations 5. Finalize invitations design and order wedding invitations (eek! hard decision!!) 6. Check invitation proof (duh) 7. Test drive directions before printing directions card (umm that's stupid. done) 8. Reserve rental items (lighting, dance floor).

COME ONNNNNN June 1st!!!

WWW - Forget Santa's List

Let's talk MY list! I've been marking things off like crazy lately! Ha, at least a few things. Recently I've booked a day of coordinator, chosen a baker and selected a cake, booked my hair and makeup gal, and started to feel like this wedding is really going to happen! It has been such a long engagement, the wedding has felt so distant and not really like I've been planning my wedding. I don't know how to explain it...But now we are under the 6 month mark, 5 months on Jan 1st!

This is the picture I showed the baker for our cake. We switched it up a bit and added a monogram. The cake will be buttercream rather than fondant (which I love the look of, but hate the taste), so it may look a bit different. I'm on the hunt for a stand and topper!

I'm at the point where I'm not just gathering ideas and selecting vendors, I have to make real choices, like what the cake flavors will be and what flowers I want in my bouquet - rather than the "feel" I want for the flowers :) Oh, and bridesmaids dresses. I don't know what it is with me and bridesmaids dresses but I cannot decide on one for the life of me. I want the palest of blues, silk, and a flattering cut. I've got to decide by January so that we have plenty of time to get the dresses in and have them altered if need be. Thinking Lula Kate or Anna Elyse.

I still haven't decided if I want to pay for a videographer. I know our photographer will give us amazing pictures, so do I need to spend the extra cash on a video? Did you all use one? Any suggestions for Lexington?
