Summer Fest

I met some girlfriends at the Arboretum the other night to see Legally Blonde the musical put on by the Kentucky Conservatory Theatre. It was like 95 degrees out, but we still managed to have a great time! And aren't I the cute one in Pure Barre attire?! Not.
I hadn't ever seen the musical and really enjoyed it. Warner, played by Matt Elmore, could really sing!! He needs to be doing some bigger shows than here in Lexington! Ellie Todd, who played Elle, was cute, she went to a local high school here in Lex but then moved to Michigan...her northern accent was quite distracting!
The image below is from HERE.

Well, TGIF, ya'll!! Have a fab weekend!

WWW - Seeking: florist

Ladies! Who has used a florist here in Lexington (or nearby) that they loved?! I need some recommendations! I like a very garden-y, soft, loose feel to floral arrangements. Also, what did you all budget for flowers for your wedding? I really have no clue on what to expect. Obviously, I won't be going crazy, as that certainly isn't in the budget! Should I dare try to do the table arrangements myself (like the Thursday before)?! Is that too much of a commitment? I would def have the bouquets and such done professionally.

Any recommendations, advice or input is highly appreciated!!

(love the Dogwood in this bouquet)

I received my monthly box of sample goodies in the mail from Birchbox the other day. Another good month! I'm absolutely loving this mud mask. The first time I used it there was a very noticeable difference in the size of my pores and my skin looked so even!

WWW - With this ring

Hello ladies! For today's Wade Wedding Wednesday I wanted to share with you all the little Limoge style antique box we found to use instead of the traditional ring pillow. I searched for quite a while to find a box I loved, and stumbled upon Courtland Decor on Esty. Sarah has such beautiful unique antique items in her shop...they rotate in and out quite frequently so you have to check back now and again. Sarah also is a talented artist who paints lovely original works of art. I'd soooo love to have her do a portrait of our kids (you know, when we have them! haha!)

I am going to make a little pillow out of cream velvet and tie a grosgrain ribbon to the middle to create a little ring pillow within the box. I was inspired by a picture I saw on SMP & just had to find the right box for our wedding. I searched high and low online for a few months, both ebay and esty have a large variety available This one is quite large and has a mirror on the inside...so it is not your typical Limoge pill box size. I wanted one that latched and one that wasn't teeny tiny.

I love it! And I think it will be such a special keepsake to have in our home after the wedding!

Check out her site Sarah Kadlic Gallery and also her etsy shop, Courtland Decor! Impressionist art is my favorite!

PS my DIY Wedding planner was featured on Paper Wedding!! Check it out HERE!

WWW - To-Do List

With about 11 months to go until the big day, I feel rather good about the planning I have done so far. Of course, an 18 month engagement and a seven year courtship (I have been reading way too many novels set in the 16th century!) tend to give you ample planning time! I have many of the "big" items checked off my list and can now concentrate on the fun, crafty and personalized details. I do however have a few big decisions to make in the near future...

Some things need to be taken care of sooner, rather than later. Then there are smaller, easier to decide on items and details that will need to be handled on down the road. I'll save those for another day...

  1. Find a band - any suggestions would be appreciated! I want something affordable but fun! This I probably need to get booked ASAP.
  2. Choose a florist - I have an idea of the style of bouquets and flowers I want, just need to find the right person to execute these ideas.
  3. Choose a bakery - this will be super fun :) and Beny boy loves him some sweets!
  4. Find bridesmaid dresses & groomsmen suits. Still looking for the perfect shade of pale blue.
  5. Select my shoes - must be done by early December for first fitting! Not an easy tasl, I've been looking for months and have yet to find anything I just love. Butter makes some lovely bridal shoes, and they are affordable (compared to LBs or something) But I am willing to splurge if I find something amazing! Feel free to send ideas my way :)
  6. Decide on save the dates and order them..several months to do this. I want to get the save the dates out by the end of October. Also, find a calligrapher.
  7. Get registered and keep track of all that jazz.
  8. Find a caterer for the rehearsal dinner & book ASAP.
  9. Look into any rentals we might need for both reception and rehearsal.
  10. Any other things I need to sign contracts for and book in advance...what am I forgetting?!
Ha! Well, more to do than I have already done...good thing I LOVE it! I should have skipped law school and been a wedding planner. But let's be real, if someone told me they wanted a red and black wedding I would b-slap them & tell them no can do and then vomit. Wouldn't be great for business.

Swatches I've collected thus far...waiting on some LaRoque ones as well.

WWW - Send-off Sparklers

Thought I'd do our WWW post a day early this week seeing how tomorrow is the 4th. In honor of Independence Day I wanted to share some of the fab sparkler send-off inspiration photos I have found. I definitely want to do sparklers when we leave the reception, I just love how the pictures turn out! Annnnd all you Thetas know that we "sparkle," so these are appropriate! bahahaha I'm kidding! Kinda ;)

"please join us for a sparkling farewell to katherine & ben"..."sparkler send-off 11pm" & the little tags say "light the way with a sparkling path at 10:15pm"

so romantic!

I like the saying on the green tags above, but like this style of tag that just slips over the sparklers..."let love shine"

so sparkly!

these with the matches are super cute, but I don't think I'll do that extra step!
