the dreaded diet

Planning a wedding is fun, overwhelming at times, but for the most part all enjoyable. There are decisions that may be hard to make, costs you don't want to stomach, and family pressures...but picking out pretty dresses and flowers, tasting yummy cakes and attending all the events leading up to the wedding are something I have and do look forward to. Something I'm not looking forward to? The dreaded wedding diet. We are just past the 7 month mark, so I'm planning on getting on the band wagon soon. I've been going to Pure Barre regularly since February, but have recently taken a bit of break. I'm ready to add something new to the regime. I'm thinking about getting a personal trainer and someone to help me with meal planning. Ideally I'd go to a trainer 2x a week and pure barre 2x a week until about 3 months before the wedding. At that point, I hope to be down the actual weight I want to drop, and just work on toning - which I will do by going to Pure Barre.

My biggest obstacle is eating right. I don't cook often and usually just grab a can of soup for lunch and fix something like a sandwich for dinner. What was your pre-wedding diet and/or exercise plan Anything that worked or didn't? Just good old fashioned healthy eating and regular exercise?

You look great to me! Are you sure you even need to diet? I didn't diet for my wedding-- I simple continued to work out and eat sensibly as I normally do. I think there's something to be said for looking like yourself on your wedding day-- as long as you feel good about yourself, that is!

Eating is my #1 challenge too. I workout regularly but eating is my downfall. If you figure it out....let all of us know. For what its worth, I think you look pretty dang hot! :)

I am totally trying to get into the wedding diet habit myself, but the eating part is so hard! I do use MyFitnessPal's app to track what I'm eating and try to keep some healthy snack options at my desk and drink lots of tea which seems to help me distract myself from snacking.

But I totally agree with everyone else--you do look fabulous. ;)

I kept mine simple by just using My Fitness Pal to track my food (which once I saw some of the calories on some of my favorite things to eat...it quickly swayed me into not eating them..at least for the time being ;) and I exercised about five times a week. Sounds crazy but I had some weight to lose, let me tell you. I was just one point away from my height's highest BMI, and I wasn't ok with it. haha In the process I've lost 30 or so pounds and feel great!

Of course, I think you look simply beautiful now!!

My biggest help is MAKING myself pre-plan my food for the week. I try to get my meals for work days organized on Sunday evenings. If I've cooked that day, I ration out leftovers into lunch portions, and stack them in the fridge along with other snacks for the day as well (baggie of carrots, granola bar, Wheat Thins, etc). If I didn't cook, I make a bunch or sandwiches. I put it ALL in the fridge grouped by day since it won't hurt non-refrigerated stuff to be in there, and it makes it easier for me to grab in the mornings. Key for me is that I put this all together on Sunday AFTER I've eaten dinner so I'm not hungry (I always portion out less per day if I'm not feeling hungry when I do this task). It can be a little time consuming on Sunday evening, but it's sooo worth the weekday convenience and keeps me on track throughout the week! I make sure to pack two healthy snacks for each day too - one before lunch, and one after. It can be as small as a cheese stick, but it keeps me out of the vending machines at the office!

I just had my first dress fitting... and it fits perfectly. It's great!! Now I can just work on some toning of my arms and stuff. What a unique experience to have someone say "You're not allowed to lose weight." Unfortunately, I still need to shed some belly before honeymoon bikinis creep up on me. 4.5 months to go for me!
